What is a smoothie?
A smoothie is a thick, creamy beverage made from pureed raw fruit, vegetables, and sometimes dairy products, typically using a blender. Smoothies are a body-loving choice that provides energy and satisfaction. This liquid meal allows your body to continue to cleanse from the night before while helping to balance blood sugar and shut down hunger hormones for hours. Signature smoothies include the following formula: protein, fiber, fat, and greens. Adding fruit, liquid, and a hit of superfoods to round out a well-balanced beverage is possible.
Making your smoothie allows you to control exactly what’s happening and how much sugar is added. Since it’s easy for ingredients to add up to a calorie bomb, measure your ingredients as you build your smoothie. Yogurt adds high-quality protein and calcium – as long as it’s not the flavored stuff, which counts added sugar among the ingredients on the label. No fat means watery yogurt.
